ADHD

At the Center for Cognition & Communication, we are committed to providing expert comprehensive evaluations for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and tailored accommodation recommendations to support individuals of all ages. Our experienced team of neuropsychologists specialize in providing patients with optimal care for the diagnosis, testing, and the treatment of various neurodevelopmental and cognitive disorders.

What is ADHD?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects individuals across their lifespan. It can cause individuals to experience difficulties with attention and impulse control, as well as hyperactivity.

At our center, we offer thorough assessments to identify and understand the unique needs of individuals with ADHD.

Our Approach:

Our approach to ADHD evaluations involves a combination of clinical interviews, neuropsychological testing, and behavioral observations. We aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of an individual’s strengths and challenges, allowing us to develop personalized intervention strategies.

Who We Serve:

  • Children aged 7+
  • Adults

What is a comprehensive evaluation?

A comprehensive evaluation aims to gather information from multiple sources to obtain a holistic view of the individual’s functioning and identify the presence and severity of any ADHD symptoms. The results of the evaluation can guide treatment planning and interventions tailored to the individual’s specific needs.

What does the assessment cover?

The assessment typically includes a combination of the following components:

  • Clinical Interviews: In-depth discussions and relevant observations to identify ADHD-related behaviors.
  • Symptom Assessment: Use of standardized scales to evaluate the presence and intensity of ADHD symptoms.
  • Medical History: Collection of medical background to rule out other potential causes.
  • Developmental History: Gathering information about early behaviors and academic experiences.
  • Psychological Testing: Assessing cognitive abilities, academics, and emotional well-being.
  • Teacher and Parent Questionnaires: Input from teachers and parents to understand behavior variations.

Test Accommodations:

In addition to our ADHD evaluations, we also offer accommodation letters for standardized tests, recognizing the importance of a level playing field for individuals with ADHD. We work closely with educational institutions and testing agencies to ensure that appropriate accommodations are provided for exams such as:

  • SAT
  • GRE
  • GMAT
  • LSAT
  • ACT
  • TOEFL
  • and other standardized tests

Accommodations for Children and Young Adults:
